Well, Will entered and competed in his first ATA trap shoot competition today. I heard his alarm go off at 5 am. Note: the competition started at 10:00 am. We drove over to Butte in the pounding rain and sleet. Yesterday it was 70 degrees. Will was a trooper, and shot wonderfully for his first tournament. He shot with a group of 50 yr old to 70 yr old men. One older gentleman who shoot to the left of Will, was plagued with gun jamming problems, which can really throw the rest of the group off; but Will handled it wonderfully. He shot in double digits every round. Will shot as a sub-Jr and also a new shooter. He will have his hands full in the sub-Jr category this year. There was a small boy that we saw shooting in Butte last week, that little boy could out shoot most men, and he was shooting in the tournament. The child shot a 81 out of 100 today, and he beat most of the older shooters. Will, will definitely have someone to aspire to shoot like. It was so fun watching Steve (Will's shell caddy) watch Will shoot. Steve was wincing and cheering in the warmth and privacy of our vehicle, and when needed would race out to give Will another round of shells. I never thought of my husband as nervous; until today. He almost made himself sick before Will began shooting. Thank goodness Will was calm.
